CHASE THE SUN DROP ‘THE PANTS’

After something of a break in 2011, Chase The Sun are back with a vengence in 2012, embarking on a tour featuring a bevvy of NSW shows to back up the digital release of the new track ‘The Pants’. Recorded in Sydney’s Blues Mountains, ‘The Pants’ embodies the sound that has catapulted Chase The Sun to the forefront of the Aussie Blues and Roots scene – the passionate delivery of front man Jan Rynsaardt teamed with bottom-heavy rhythm section assault, screaming guitars, a good sense of humour and a tip of the hat to the classics of the genre.

‘The Pants’ cooks along in hand jive fashion as it relates the tale of domestic power struggle and the illusions blokes often operate under in their relationships with the fairer sex:

I’m a man, no doubt about that,
That little girl gives me no back chat,
I rule the roost, how much you want to bet me,
I wear the pants just as long as she lets me.

The NSW leg of ‘The Pants Tour’ sees Chase The Sun head back to favourite suburban haunts from Newcastle to Wollongong along with the offical single launch at The Basement in Circular Quay on February 2nd which also features blues guitar master Ray Beadle on the bill.

THE FAMILY VACATION TOUR - Are We There Yet?

Rhythm Section Management is proud to announce “The Family Vacation Tour” – a WA tour by the multiple Australian Blues Awards winners Chase The Sun. The Family Vacation Tour will be the first full WA tour for the hard rocking three-piece and they’ll be visiting a raft of West Coast hot spots over the winter. The last time the band were in WA was for a brief appearance at the Bridgetown Blues Festival in 2008 and this will be their first chance to bring their latest album ‘Rednecks & Gentlemen’ to West Coast audiences.
Along for the ride are soul sister Cass Eager and her band The Velvet Rope and rootsy solo brother Claude Hay in support. Cass Eager is no stranger to WA, having toured extensively in 2006 and 2007, and both Cass and Claude Hay will be performing tracks from their critically acclaimed releases “Down On my Knees” and “Deep Fried Satisfied” respectively.
Chase The Sun’s Family Vacation Tour was a smash hit up and down the East Coast last summer and is set to do the same in The West this winter.

Claude, Cass and Chase The Sun share their roots in blues, but sound-wise they sit on very different branches of the family tree.  Claude does his stomping one-man-band vibe, Cass Eager & The Velvet Rope bring the sound of soul, and Chase The Sun take care of ‘The Rock’.Each of these artists released new material in 2010 to critical acclaim, and all have been appearing at major festivals Australia-wide this past year, while also making inroads into the international market.  Claude Hay’s new album ‘Deep Fried Satisfied’ hit the US Billboard chart at #9 in November 2010, bettering Chase The Sun’s previous best of #13 by four positions.  Talk about your sibling rivalry.  Soul sister Cass graced the top ten of the indie Canadian Charts, so she’s not taking any crap whatsoever from her boisterous brothers on this trip.All three artists are booked by Rhythm Section Management, and have releases on the Only Blues Music label.  The Family Vacation Tour is the first opportunity they’ve had to tour extensively together as a bonded family unit.  So while each is worth the price of admission on their own, this is a triple-bill to get off the hammock for as it arrives at a holiday hot spot near you.

We’ve done both festivals before, they’re both free, and both go off like the proverbial. The Ipswich Festival will be extra special in 2011, with the community rebuilding after the devastation of the floods earlier this year. We saw a bit of the aftermath of the flooding when we were on tour in January and it’s a credit to Ipswich that they got the festival on at all, if you’re in the area show your support by coming along and drinking beer.
