June 2010

Hi, and welcome to another thrilling instalment of Chase The Sun News and a big hello to all the new friends who came out to see the band on the 'Rednecks & Gentlemen' launch tour over the month of May.

The tour saw us wind our way from Adelaide to Brisbane, knock over 12 or so shows in the month, play to thousands of people who seemed to like the music and otherwise stay out of trouble, which is rare for us. Highlights included flying everywhere for a change (didn't miss the van at all), finally having a crowd come and see us in Melbourne (we knew they'd come eventually) and The Broadbeach Festival on the Gold Coast (it was at this point at the end of the tour where we remembered how all the songs went).

We had some great acts open for us including our favourites Cass Eager and Claude Hay as well as the fabulous Imperial who was with us at Beaches, Jarrah Thompson in Sydney and Melbourne, Monkey Boy in Sydney, Abbie Cardwell in Melbs, and CC The Cat, Asa Broomhall and Black Mustang in Brissy, all of whom are worth a quick Google if you're feeling like a bit of a procrastinating web-surf right about now.

Also we would like to send out a big thanks to everyone who helped make the 'Rednecks' launch tour a huge success: Annie Johnson for the press, John Ward for the distro, Cass for the art, Claire McGarry for the booking, Me-Lee and Ron for the merch, Toby Burrows for the photos, Rhythms Mag for just being them, SPA and PBS for their support, Yamaha for the drums, Eden for the bass rig, Fender for the guitars, Stage Systems for the hire, Madonna for the couch, Stop 'N' Rock for the CDs and coffee, all the fabulous venues who risked all to put us on, all our wives, kids, girlfriends and fiancees for putting up with our absence and everyone who came along and rocked out with us - we couldn't have done it without you. It's not the Grammys so I probably should just shut the f@#k up now before I start thanking God. If you feel that you should have been included in his list please let me know and I'll continue the thank-yous next month.

Rhythm Section Launch at The Vanguard

This July 3 is a Saturday, and on this day Ryan and Howler will be launching their new management company 'Rhythm Section'  at The Vanguard in Newtown.Dissatisfied merely working themselves half to death with Chase The Sun, they thought it best to go out and work themselves fully to death for some of their other favourite artists.

So it's with great pleasure that Rhythm Section Management present the three artists they're booking shows for, Chase The Sun, Cass Eager and Claude Hay in an outstanding bill of Soul, Blues and Rock at the wonderful Vanguard in what promises to be a cranking show given that all three acts have been playing heaps and are match fit and in form. For gig details please see the Gigs page, hope to see you there.
